Recap: Labor of Love Episode 3

Ok DINKs and SINKS, I’m pushing through on these Labor of Love recaps!  See what I did there….LOL. Thanks for all your feedback and sharing these episodes and if you haven’t done so yet, give me a 5 star review on your favorite podcast platform.

Last week we said goodbye to Budge and Mario, who will go home this week?  The guys get a message to grab a tablet and take a test, you know to gauge their intelligence.  Alan says he’s not a good test taker, he’d rather masturbate in a cup everyday than take a test.  Well, I guess you have to do something with all that with all that sperm.  Jason is trying to cheat and Keith went to Yale so he knows he’s going to ace any test.  Why do people who go to Ivy League schools always have to tell you they went to an Ivy League school?  You’re still doing a reality show about becoming a baby daddy….was that a course at Yale?

While the tests are being graded, the guys are taken to an elementary school “Parent Prep Academy” to compete in Genius vs Gents. Marcus loves winning because he’s so smart.  Kristy says there’s no real way to quantify intelligence, she just wants to see how they interact with the kids.  These “Geniuses” answer all the questions correcting and more quickly than the Gents and everyone is impressed with one kid’s answer about love: head vs heart.  Yeah I’m not impressed with your Blues Clues skills. Generally speaking I’m not a kid fan, but I really can’t stand nerdy kids, the ones who want to prove they know more than you. You may be able to solve math problems in seconds but can you buy a bottle of Malbec or go anywhere unaccompanied….no, I guess I win in the real life skills category.

The results from the morning’s aptitude test used to determine intelligence and mental flexibility are in!  Second place - with 83 out of 100: Keith (representing Yale well!) First place with 91 out of 100 is Marcus (well you know he’s a doctor).  I wonder what Jason’s score was?  No trophies for this challenge. In a lightening round Kristy chooses Keith to go on a cross country trip with (total friend zone), She would introduce Kyle to her sister, her parents would like Gary the best, she would take career advise from Stewart, Dance in the rain with Alan and change a tire with Kyle.  You see that…. Kyle was picked twice! The other guys are not happy.

Kristy goes over to the guys house to hang out.  Jason offers her quiche and some alone time in the basement.  She accepts.  By the way, Jason is not sure what quiche is, I really hope he’s kidding about that.  Jason is a small town guy and plays quarters with Kristy, the prize, a kiss.  He wins and gets his awkward kiss. Angelo interrupts, hey can I steal her for a sec?  Turns out Angelo hasn’t been in a serious relationship in 10 years and Kristy wonders if he’s ready to start a family.

During the show they interview the families of the guys, Angelo’s dad’s outfit looks like a kids art project gone wrong. Marcus’ mom show a picture of him learning how to potty train by “riding a horse”, you get the visual.  These family interviews are weird.  I’m not cosigning on my brother (if I had a brother), doing this show, let alone sit for an interview about it.

Drunk Jason is telling his one on one time story to the guys and Matt keeps interrupting.  Keith is so mad about this.  Dude, calm down.  Matt says (in his confessional) he’s not here to hang out and if anyone wants to go outside and fight, he’s game.  Matt is a professional wrestler, I’m sure no one wants to take him up on that.  And is that really necessary?

Kristy choses Stewart and Walker for one on one dates.  Stewart is up first.  They have a cooking date and he brings flowers and wine.  Kristy sees him being a father.  Stewart’s parents are not together and I wonder if that raises concern for Kristy.

Meanwhile, Trent is tearing up the house looking for his stuffed cat, Snoot.  Yes, you heard hat correctly, a stuffed cat.  He even interrupts Stewart’s date asking if he stole Snoot.  Wow! I guess they needed filler because we never find out what actually happened to Snoot.

Back to Stewart’s date, during their meal, they hear a quartet playing outside.  So romantic.  They dance and kiss and Stewart is excited she kissed him back and it was magical.  Kristy likes how he’s navigated the date and and sees him navigating a family and feels butterflies.

The guys are super jealous Walker has an overnight trip to Savannah with Kristy.  They are getting to know each other on a yacht and Kristy learns Walker is in the family business as a funeral director but also has his hand in a few other ventures which require him to travel a lot.  Kristy is concerned about raising children in a funeral home and if Walker’s travel would prevent him from being a hands on dad.  They also have a romantic walk on the beach and take in the view from a lighthouse.  Walker says he feels a connection but there’s no kiss throughout the date.  A couple of things here.  Unless they live in the funeral home, you won’t be raising your kids there.  Funeral directors provide an essential service and I would think you’d raise compassionate kids in that environment.  But what do I know, I’m no one’s parent! Secondly, Walker, if there was a connection, there would have been a kiss….

It’s elimination time!  Angelo, Jason and Walker are on the chopping block.

Angelo is up first.  He’s a great guy but they don’t have a connection so she doesn’t see them starting a family together. Instead of leaving with a shred of dignity, Angelo drags Kristy, calls her a 4, says he only hangs out with 10s and 12s, says she’s not the one for him. Did you forget you applied to be on this show and last week you were all in, as a matter of fact 20 mins ago you were all in. No wonder you haven’t been in a relationship in a decade.

Jason, you’re next.  She’s had a blast hanging out but they are not on the same page. She doesn’t see them starting a family together.  And in true drunk Jason style, he makes a spectacle of himself and urinates on the side of the house….um I think they would have let you in the house to use the bathroom.  Kristy sees this and says yes, she’s made the right choice and I would agree.

Walker, the last man standing.  On paper, he’s perfect but they are just not a match.  She’s very emotional and feels like she’s breaking up with someone she really liked.  Walker wishes her the best and there’s no drama when he departs.

Wow Kristy!  You got rid of three dudes this week!  I think that takes us down to eight.

Angelo, Jason and Walker, good luck on your journey.  If that family thing doesn’t work out and you find you’re happier with your childfree life, shoot me an email and come on the podcast!  Angelo! I’m talking to you!
